Films To Go See This Week

As August rears its head, we delve into a summer of brilliant blockbusters and family fun films to keep you all occupied when the sun decides not to show. Of course there are the doozies, the flops and the rubbish that you may be tricked into seeing; but don't worry, I'm here to help with this weeks round up of latest releases.

Super 8

If you haven't been living in a cave, you have no doubt seen the posters and the trailers plaguing our lives as JJ Abrams releases this epic tale set in the heart of 1979. After witnessing a train accident, a group of children start to notice that their town is not the same; dogs are running away, people are going missing and inexplicable events are happening. It is up to these friends and a local sheriff to find out what is going on.

Boasting to be the "summer blockbuster of the year," Super 8 is an action-filled scare fest that will get you on the edge of your seat.

Mr Popper's Penguins

Ah. It had to happen. Jim Carrey back to where he begun, as a morphing over the top actor in a family film. Mr Popper's Penguins begins as a selfish businessman who has disappointed everyone he loves to farther his career. However, after an elderly relative dies, Mr Popper soon inherits a bunch of penguins and soon his life is transformed into a winter wonderland. But his career begins to to suffer.

A film to take the children too, the silly antics and adorable penguins will have them giggling and laughing so much it wont matter if your not as well.

The Tree

In the Australian countryside, a family is struck with tragedy as a father is killed, leaving grief stricken Dawn alone. When a fig tree becomes a nuisance to the family, Dawn calls in a plumber to get rid of it and a relationship forms. But this causes a rife between her and her 8 year old daughter Simone as Simone has a secret about the tree, a secret that could change their lives forever.

A heartbreaking yet warming film, certainly comes with a warning for tissues.

Also out this week is French film Sarah's Key.

Hope you have a great weekend with all these films.
