Films To Go See This Week

I don't smurfing believe it. Another week has smurfed by and we are smurfed to be smurfed by a numerous amount of smurfing good films. *cough cough* Sorry, I'll stop now. Here are the latest releases this week that may tickle your fancy...

The Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes.

Boom! Finally I believe we have a prequel that works and mainly because The Rise Of ....(As I am calling it because even the abbreviation is too long,) is set so far back from the first film that it is possible to feel for the characters and not know how it completely ends. The Rise Of stars James Franco and John Lythgoe who tend to an ape named Ceaser who has been given a cure for Alziemers and with it super intelligence. What could go wrong with that?

With heart racing action and an inevitable message about animal cruelt/experimentation, this is set to be the only prequel that doesnt make you want to rip your eyes out.

The Smurfs

Ah you see I kind of dont want to promote this, I believe this film is the kind of film that is ruining Hollywood (and childhoods everywhere) right now. Seriously, you know how annoying my opening sentence was, try it for a whole movie as The Smurfs invade New York after falling through a portal. Your favourite Smurfs such as Papa Smurf and Smurfette are being chased by Gargamel (Hank Azaria, go figure.) Its up to plucky ad salesmen Patrick Wilnslow (Neil Patrick Harris, perhaps the only good thing about this film,) to save the day and save The Smurfs.

Whilst I'd like to say is that it is bringing Smurfs to a new generation of children who have no idea who the Smurfs were. But if you want to do that, dig up some DVD's of the cartoon and watch it. Do not fund this....

The Devil's Double

Starring Dominic Cooper (that guy from Mama Mia,) this is a chilling look into the complex family of Suddam Hussein. It tells the tale of Latif Yahia who is forced into becoming Uday Husseins (Suddam's son) body double. Looking near identical (and they should, they are both played by the same man,) Yahia find himself trapped in a world of drugs and violence unwillingly as Hussein forces him to play the role, holding his family hostage.

A thriller with the right energy, The Devil's Double keeps you at the edge of your seat as Yahia fights his way for his freedom.

Other films out this week include documentary about an ape raised as a human child called Project Nim and The Tagwacores a film about Muslim punks.

Whatever you go see this week, make sure it isn't The Smurfs...
Please.
